Arabic,Sanskrit,Hindi and local dialects.This interaction gradually gave rise to a new language that became a medium of communication among soldiers,traders,scholars, and common people.The word “Urdu” itself is derived from a Turkish word meaning “camp” or “army.”During the rule of the Delhi Sultanate and later the Mughal Empire,Urdu developed rapidly.Persian was the official language, but Urdu became popular among the masses because it was easier to understand and reflected the local culture.Literary Development Urdu flourished through poetry, prose and literature.Great poets and writers enriched the language with beauty and depth,including:Mir Taqi Mir,Mirza Ghalib,Allama Muhammad Iqbal,Faiz Ahmed Faiz.Their literary contributions made Urdu a powerful language of emotion,philosophy, culture and social awareness.After the creation of Pakistan in 1947 Urdu was declared the national language because it served as a unifying medium among people of different provinces and cultures.In Pakistan Urdu plays an important role in connecting people from different linguistic backgrounds and promoting national integration.Urdu reflects the traditions,values,poetry, history and civilization of South Asia.It preserves cultural heritage and strengthens identity.Urdu literature contains poetry, novels,short stories and essays that provide intellectual,moral and emotional guidance.Urdu is widely understood and spoken across Pakistan and in many parts of India and among overseas communities, making it an effective language for communication.Urdu is used in schools,colleges, journalism,broadcasting, and academic research.It helps spread knowledge and awareness among the public.Urdu has a strong presence in television, radio,films,dramas and digital media.It is a language of creativity and artistic expression.Urdu poetry and literature often emphasize love,peace,humanity,justice,tolerance, and spirituality which contribute positively to society.Finally we can say that Urdu is not merely a language but a symbol of cultural richness,intellectual tradition and social unity.Its historical evolution and literary beauty make it one of the most influential languages of South Asia.Promoting Urdu alongside modern education and technology can further strengthen cultural awareness and national harmony.
