In a major step toward digital transformation, the Government of Pakistan has officially launched “AI Seekho 2026,” a comprehensive nationwide program designed to equip the next generation with advanced artificial intelligence skills.
The initiative aims to train one million young Pakistanis, focusing not only on technical experts but also on individuals from non-technical backgrounds to ensure broad-based digital literacy.
Strategic Partnerships and Goals
Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima, announced the program on Monday, emphasizing that AI is now a central pillar of the national development strategy.
- Global Collaboration: A key component of the program involves a partnership with Google to up-skill over 100,000 developers, enhancing Pakistan’s presence in the global tech market.
- Economic Integration: Participants will be connected with National Incubation Centers (NICs) and the Pakistan Startup Fund, providing a direct bridge to economic opportunities and global startup platforms.
National AI Policy
The launch follows the development of Pakistan’s first National AI Policy. Minister Fatima highlighted that the “AI Seekho” program is designed to create a supportive ecosystem where innovation can thrive. By providing accessible training, the government hopes to turn Pakistan into a regional hub for AI-driven services and entrepreneurship.
Impact on the Youth
The program is part of a broader effort to modernize the workforce. By integrating AI education into the mainstream, the government intends to provide the youth with the tools necessary to compete in a rapidly evolving global economy.
